Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 10.90.33-34
Blended reading (Sanskrit + English inline)
-
pradyumnaḥ
—
Pradyumna
Rukmiṇī's son, the first among the eighteen mahā-rathas. Gauḍīyas identify him as Kāmadeva returned — and in Pañcarātra theology he is one of Bhagavān's catur-vyūha expansions (Vāsudeva, Saṅkarṣaṇa, Pradyumna, Aniruddha). His name carries deity-level weight.
-
aniruddhaḥ
—
Aniruddha
Pradyumna's son, Rukmavatī's grandson. Also a catur-vyūha-mūrti. Aniruddha means 'unobstructed.' Gauḍīya theology (Jīva Gosvāmī, Bhagavat-sandarbha) reads the catur-vyūha as Bhagavān's expansions for cosmic functions.
-
sāmbaḥ
—
Sāmba
Son of Jāmbavatī. He plays a central — and unflattering — role in canto 11's account of the Yadu dynasty's end (he pretends to be a pregnant woman, gets cursed by sages, generates the club that destroys the Yadus). The naming here foreshadows that finale.
-
kaviḥ
—
Kavi (the wise one)
Sanskrit for poet/seer. One of Kṛṣṇa's sons bears the name kavi — fitting for a dynasty in which 38 million teachers (verse 41) educated the children. Names declare destinies in Sanskrit genealogies.
In the opinion of Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī, the Aniruddha mentioned here is Lord Kṛṣṇa’s son, not His well-known grandson through Pradyumna.
The Aniruddha listed here is a son of Krsna not the son of Pradyumna, as the subject is the sons of Krsna.
Many of these were mentioned in the Chapter Sixty-one. Dīptimāṁs tāmrataptādyā rohiṇyās tanayā hareḥ: Dīptimāna and Tāmrataptā were sons of Rohiṇī (chief of the sixteen thousand queens). (SB 10.61.18) Those listed here are the chief sons among the other queens. Instead of Citrabāhu sometimes Citrabarhi is seen and instead of Virūpa sometimes Virūtha is seen.
The eighteen names are read out — Pradyumna, Aniruddha, Sāmba, and so on. Bhāgavatam refuses generality at the close of Canto 10: even the secondary genealogies are kept. Each Vaiṣṇava soul has a name; even the dynasty's footnotes are sacred.
