  • vasudevaḥ — Vasudeva
Father of Kṛṣṇa, named ānakadundubhi (drums of the gods sounded at his birth). Gauḍīyas treat him as the standing instance of vātsalya from the father's side, complementary to Yaśodā's vātsalya in Vraja.
  • upasaṅgṛhya — taking hold of their feet
upa + sam + √grah. The technical word for receiving the dust of the feet. Gauḍīyas read pādārcana / pāda-saṅgrahaṇa as a non-negotiable feature of approaching a brāhmaṇa-sage.
  • su-yantritaḥ — very carefully composed
su- + yantrita (controlled, restrained). Vasudeva speaks with restraint. Gauḍīyas note that vāk-tapas (austerity of speech, BG 17.15) is the prerequisite for serious spiritual inquiry — not the casual chat.
  • praṇamya — bowing down
Gerund of pra + √nam. Again the body leads — bow first, speak second. Gauḍīyas read praṇāma as the entry-rite of every encounter with a Vaiṣṇava.
Seeing that they were about to leave, the renowned Vasudeva approached the sages. After bowing down to them and touching their feet, he spoke to them with carefully chosen words.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Seeing that they were about to leave, the renowned Vasudeva approached the sages. After bowing down to them and touching their feet, he spoke to them with carefully chosen words.
Commentary

Grasping their feet, Vasudeva spoke. The sandhi of bibhase with idam (bibhasedam) is poetic license. "Such sages are difficult to bring, even if invited. The doubts in my heard cannot be destroyed except by them. Therefore now I should ask them my questions."

Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Knowing the intention of the sages to leave (tat vīkṣya), Vasudeva, famous because he was the father of the Lord, went to them. Following human pastimes like the Lord, he offered respects and spoke with the greatest courtesy (suyantritaḥ) in order to give bliss to Kṛṣna and the people by crediting to the Lord his proper fame.

Śrīdhara Svāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Knowing the intention of the sages to leave (tat vīkṣya), Vasudeva, though famous because he was the father of the Lord, went to them. Or he went to them, with the intention of his future fame. He spoke humbly (suyantritaḥ).

Jiva

Vasudeva, the father of Bhagavān Himself, does not stand on rank. He bows, takes the dust of the ṛṣis' feet, and speaks with carefully composed words. The man who fathered God models the verse just spoken: the brāhmaṇa is the form Bhagavān has chosen to be honored through.

Vasudeva carrying the infant Kṛṣṇa

In SB 10.3, on the night of Kṛṣṇa's birth, Vasudeva carries the newborn through the storm-swollen Yamunā to Gokula. The Yamunā parts for him, Śeṣa shelters him.

Gauḍīyas hold Vasudeva as the original father-devotee, whose humility before sages now — though he has fathered the Lord — is the same humility that earned him fatherhood in the first place.
