At the time of His descent on earth, demigods in the form of raining clouds sounded musical instruments in the sky. The celestial musicians, the Gandharvas, sang the glories of the Lord, while celestial dancing girls known as Apsarās danced in joyful ecstasy.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
At that time, in the sky, devatās in the clouds played instruments, the Gandarvas sang in praise of the Lord and the Apsaras danced in joy. Ghanāghanāḥ means rumbling clouds, indicating the devatās. Amara-koṣa says that ghanāghana means rain cloud.
