  • pṛṣṭaḥ — questioned
Past participle of √prach. The Lord questions; the asura speaks. The Bhāgavatam's preferred geometry: Bhagavān asks, the soul answers. The asura does not realise his speech is testimony, not conversation.
  • vacasā amṛta-varṣiṇā — with words raining nectar
Contiguous (vacasā + amṛta + varṣiṇā). Amṛta-varṣin = nectar-rainer. Gauḍīya scriptures repeatedly cast Bhagavān's speech in this image — Caitanya's Śikṣāṣṭaka rains it, Kṛṣṇa's flute rains it, the baṭuka's words here rain it.
  • gata-klamaḥ — his fatigue gone
Contiguous (gata + klamaḥ). Even on an asura the nectar-rain works at the body's level. The Bhāgavatam: Hari's voice removes klama whether the hearer is prepared or not — the removal precedes the consent.
  • abravīt — he said, he reported
Imperfect of √brū. The asura, relieved, becomes voluble. Gauḍīya reading: when the body is at ease and the heart is unguarded, what was hidden comes out — and Hari is listening.
  • yathā pūrvam anuṣṭhitam — everything that had been done before
Contiguous (yathā + pūrvam + anuṣṭhitam). The whole biography of the boon — flesh in fire, hatchet at the neck, Śiva's hand-on-touch. Once narrated to Hari, it can be dismantled by Hari.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Thus questioned by the Personality of Godhead in language that poured down upon him like sweet nectar, Vṛka felt relieved of his fatigue. He described to the Lord everything he had done.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Thus questioned by the Personality of Godhead in language that poured down upon him like sweet nectar, Vṛka felt relieved of his fatigue. He described to the Lord everything he had done.
Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Asked by the Lord with words which showered like nectar, Vṛka felt relieved. He was pleased with relief from his fatigue. Even though the Lord spoke with other intentions, his innate spiritual qualities did not decrease.

Śrīdhara Svāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

None Asked by the Lord with words which showered like nectar, Vṛka felt relieved. He was pleased with relief from his fatigue. Even though the Lord spoke with other intentions, his innate spiritual qualities did not decrease.

A thirsty traveler is offered a cup of nectar and, drinking it, forgets the road behind him. Kṛṣṇa's amṛta-words wash away the body's fatigue and the mind's caution at once. Hari's vāc is the most disarming of His weapons — Gauḍīyas know this from Caitanya-caritāmṛta as well as from this chapter.
