Important Words
-
puṇya - śloka
—
of pious renown
Puṇya-śloka — one whose mention is itself merit-giving. Kṛṣṇa is the śikhā-maṇi (crest jewel) of every puṇya-śloka soul. Devotees note: the saints' fame culminates in Him; without Him their śloka is unset.
-
śikhā - maṇiḥ
—
the crest jewel
Śikhā — the topmost tuft; maṇi — jewel. The image places Kṛṣṇa at the summit of every honourable lineage; even the most renowned devotees wear Him as their crowning ornament.
-
su - hṛdbhiḥ
—
by His well-wishers
Su-hṛt — the heart turned toward another's good. The procession is one of su-hṛd-saṅga; Kṛṣṇa never moves alone, always inside concentric circles of well-wishers.
Thus surrounded by His well-wishing relatives and praised on all sides, Lord Kṛṣṇa, the crest jewel of the justly renowned, entered the decorated city.
Purport
Śrīla Prabhupāda writes: “While Lord Kṛṣṇa was entering the city, all the people were talking amongst themselves about the glories of the Lord, praising His transcendental name, quality, form, etc.”

Translation
Thus surrounded by His well-wishing relatives and praised on all sides, Lord Kṛṣṇa, the crest jewel of the justly renowned, entered the decorated city.

Commentary
Surrounded by friends, Kṛṣṇa was praised profusely because he was famous for his attractiveness (puṇya) or being dharma incarnate (puṇya) for the Pāṇḍavas and was full of all attractiveness (bhagavān).

Analogy
Kṛṣṇa entering the decorated city of Indraprastha as the crest jewel of the pious is like the central gem being set into a finished necklace — the city had every ornament except Him, and now it is complete.
