  • kośala - patiḥ — the lord of Kośala
Compound — the same title once held by Daśaratha. Gauḍīya undertone: the king of Kośala once welcomed Rāma as his eldest son; now another Kośala-king welcomes the same Bhagavān as a son-in-law. Avatāric memory.
  • pratyutthāna — by standing up
From prati + ud + √sthā — rising in greeting. A specific śāstric form of honour. The king rises from his throne, the highest gesture a host can offer. Gauḍīya: pratyutthāna is the bodily form of accepting that the guest outranks the seat.
  • guruṇā — great
Heavy — substantial gifts. Hospitality measured by weight, not flourish. Gauḍīyas: rasa requires substance; ornamentation without substance is hollow.
  • pratinanditaḥ — (Lord Kṛṣṇa) greeted respectfully in return
From prati + nand — to gladden in return. The greeting is reciprocal; Kṛṣṇa does not merely receive worship, He greets the host. Gauḍīya: Bhagavān honours dharma's exchanges; reciprocity is rasa.
The King of Kośala, pleased to see Lord Kṛṣṇa, worshiped Him by rising from his throne and offering Him a seat of honor and substantial gifts. Lord Kṛṣṇa also greeted the King respectfully.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
The King of Kośala, pleased to see Lord Kṛṣṇa, worshiped Him by rising from his throne and offering Him a seat of honor and substantial gifts. Lord Kṛṣṇa also greeted the King respectfully.
Commentary

The king worshipped Krsna and greeted him. Krsna also worshipped him.

Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

The king, with a pretext for giving Kṛṣṇa his daughter, was pleased. He worshipped him by offering a seat according to custom and then worshipped him according to the scriptures, with suitable articles. The word ādibhiḥ indicates that he washed his feet, fanned him and did other services.

Śrīdhara Svāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

The king was famous for following dharma (saḥ) or wanted to give his daughter to Kṛṣṇa. Ādibhiḥ indicates giving arghya, pādya and other items. He worshipped him with the best (gurunā) items, such as ornaments. This could also include arghya etc. but to stress the importance they are mentioned separately or they are mentioned separately because of the particular method he used in offering separately.

Asana

When the supreme guest arrives at one's home, all the household's polish is on display — the seat, the gift, the standing. Nagnajit's hospitality is the bride's father's first prayer offered with the hands rather than the lips.
