  • bhinna - matiḥ — whose mind was split / corrupted
Compound: bhinna (broken, divided) + mati (intelligence). Gauḍīyas read bhinna-mati as the prelude to every fall — buddhi-bheda is what asuric counsel achieves. Śatadhanvā does not need to be coerced; his intelligence is simply cracked open by suggestion.
  • asat - tamaḥ — the most wicked
Superlative of asat (untrue, evil). The Bhāgavata does not soften him: murder of a sleeping father-in-law for a gem ranks at the bottom of the moral order. The label is part of the verse's pedagogy — name the act before narrating it.
  • lobhāt — out of greed
Ablative of lobha. Bhagavad-gītā 16.21 names kāma, krodha, and lobha as the three gates of hell. Gauḍīyas trace the Syamantaka saga as a case study in lobha — the same gem first agitates Satrājit, then kills him.
  • kṣīṇa - jīvitaḥ — whose life span was diminished
Compound: kṣīṇa (diminished) + jīvita (life). The verb is past — the moment he raised the blade, his lifespan was already shortened. Gauḍīyas note this telescoping of cause and effect: pāpa cuts the thread before the visible consequence arrives.
His mind thus influenced by their advice, wicked Śatadhanvā murdered Satrājit in his sleep simply out of greed. In this way the sinful Śatadhanvā shortened his own life span.

According to Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī, the word asattamaḥ indicates that Śatadhanvā was basically evil-minded and a firm hater of Satrājit.

Translation
His mind thus influenced by their advice, wicked Śatadhanvā murdered Satrājit in his sleep simply out of greed. In this way the sinful Śatadhanvā shortened his own life span.
Commentary

With his mind confused by Akrura and Krtavarma, Satadhanva, with an evil bent by nature, and with enmity towards Satrajit (asattamah), killed him while sleeping, out of greed for the jewel.

Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

With his mind deviated from the correct path (bhinna-matiḥ) because he was of the demonic nature (asattmaḥ) like Kaṁsa, though born in the Yadu dynasty, controlled by a strong sense of sin (papaḥ) though he covered it by association with the Yadus, and though his life became shortened, he killed Satrājit in his sleep out of greed for the jewel.

Śrīdhara Svāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

With his mind deviated from the correct path (bhinna-matiḥ) because he was of the demonic nature (asattmaḥ), because he has a cruel heart or was inclined to sin (pāpaḥ), because his lifespan was short, though born in the Yadu dynasty, he murdered Satrajit. Or because of his deviated mind, he became wicked (asattamaḥ) and sinful (pāpaḥ). Or he was naturally wicked and because of that he became sinful and was influenced by the two. Moreover his life span was short. Thus he killed Satrājit in his sleep.

Related verses

Greed asks one short question — 'why not take it?' — and waits for the mind it has hollowed out to answer 'yes' in its sleep. Śatadhanvā is murdered first inside his own buddhi; the killing of Satrājit is only the outer echo.
