  • śauriḥ — Lord Kṛṣṇa, descendant of Śūra
Patronymic from Śūrasena, Kṛṣṇa's grandfather. The dynastic name is used here as the Lord steps into kṣatriya action — the warrior lineage is invoked precisely when warrior duty is about to be executed.
  • eka - rātreṇa — in a single night
Compound: eka (one) + rātri (night). Vyāsa's marvel is the time, not the distance — Bhagavān crushes space when His devotee is in suspense. Gauḍīyas connect this to BG 9.22 (yoga-kṣemaṁ vahāmy aham): the Lord delivers personally.
  • ānartāt — from the district of Ānarta
Ablative. Ānarta is the region of Dvārakā. The geography is real, attested elsewhere in SB and the Mahābhārata — the līlā is not myth but happened on the western coast.
  • āropya — placing (on the chariot)
Absolutive of ā-√ruh. Kṛṣṇa Himself seats the brāhmaṇa. The verse pairs with 53.56 where He āropya-s Rukmiṇī. Hand-holding (verse 1) and chariot-mounting (verse 6) are the rehearsal.
Lord Śauri mounted His chariot and had the brāhmaṇa do likewise. Then the Lord’s swift horses took them from the Ānarta district to Vidarbha in a single night.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Lord Śauri mounted His chariot and had the brāhmaṇa do likewise. Then the Lord's swift horses took them from the Ānarta district to Vidarbha in a single night.
Commentary

Hearing the message of Rukmini in the evening, that same night Krsna mounted his chariot and rode off, and arrived at Kundina in the early morning.

Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Kṛṣṇa took the brāhmaṇa sent by Rukmiṇī with him because it was easier for him to go by this method and he could take the message to her quickly to save her life. Though Kṛṣṇa is the Supreme Lord, because he partakes of human pastimes, he rode on a chariot and acted as a warrior (śauriḥ).

Śrīdhara Svāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Kṛṣṇa took the brāhmaṇa sent by Rukmiṇī with him because it was easier for the brāhmaṇa to go by this method and he could take the message to her quickly to save her life. Though Kṛṣṇa is the Supreme Lord, because he wanted to display his powers, he acted as a warrior (śauriḥ). Moreover, because he was born in the dynasty of Śūra, he was naturally endowed with all powers. He used horses because they were swift. They also had special power. Or though he was directly the Lord, he played the role of a human, acting like a warrior, taking birth in a kṣatriya family, using horses.

Related verses

A river that has been waiting for the rains crosses a continent in one monsoon night. Kṛṣṇa's horses cover Ānarta to Vidarbha in a single rātri — the geography of saṁsāra collapses when Bhagavān is moving toward His devotee.

Kṛṣṇa runs from Vraja to Mathurā

Earlier in the canto (SB 10.39), Akrūra's chariot carries Kṛṣṇa from Vṛndāvana to Mathurā in one day — and the gopīs collapse along the road. The poet of the Bhāgavatam loves the image of one chariot, one night, one beloved.

Here the direction is reversed: Kṛṣṇa Himself drives toward the beloved. Gauḍīyas read 53.6 as a Dvārakā mirror of the Vraja journey — same vehicle, opposite rasa.
