O King.
O King Parīkṣit, at the end of the past millennium, at the end of Brahmā’s day, because Lord Brahmā sleeps during the night, annihilation took place, and the three worlds were covered by the water of the ocean.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
O King! At the end of the previous day of Brahmā, when Brahmā slept, the daily annihilation took place, and the three worlds were covered by the water of the ocean. The following verses show that Matsya, like Varāha, appeared twice. Brāhmaḥ means the period when Brahmā sleeps. This is a periodic (daily) destruction, not the final destruction.
