  • madhurayā — gentle
Instrumental sg. fem. of madhura (sweet). Madhurā vāc — sweet speech. Bhagavān's own quality (BG 18.65 — speech that is satya, priya, hita); the bhakta inherits it by association. Gauḍīyas honor mādhurya as the supreme rasa, and even the brāhmaṇa-rāja's vocabulary takes on its tone.
  • aṅka-gatau — situated on his lap
Compound: aṅka (lap) + gata (gone, situated). The lap is the seat of childhood — Yaśodā holds Kṛṣṇa in her aṅka in Vraja. Here Bahulāśva places Kṛṣṇa's feet on his aṅka: the king becomes a mother-figure for the Lord's feet. Rasa-mingling.
  • saṁspṛśan — massaging
Present participle of sam + √spṛś (to touch fully). Spṛśya — touch — is the lowest of the five upacāras but, when offered to Bhagavān's feet, the most intimate. Gauḍīyas note that touching Kṛṣṇa's feet is the līlā Bhīṣma asks for at his death (SB 1.9.42).
When they had eaten to their full satisfaction, for their further pleasure the King began to speak slowly and in a gentle voice as he held Lord Viṣṇu’s feet in his lap and happily massaged them.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
When they had eaten to their full satisfaction, for their further pleasure the King began to speak slowly and in a gentle voice as he held Lord Viṣṇu's feet in his lap and happily massaged them.
Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

After they were satisfied with food, he pleased them with words like, “I am most fortunate. I am most successful by your presence.” Then he spoke as follows, first to the Lord. That is described in the next verse. The feet of Kṛṣṇa, who pervades the universe, went onto his lap, by the Lord’s mercy. He touched the feet with special skill (mudā), very gently, since Kṛṣṇa’s feet were most tender. Thus he just touched them.

Related verses

The king holds Viṣṇu's feet in his own lap and begins to speak — softly, slowly, gently. Aiśvarya-rasa here approaches the tenderness of vātsalya: a king lowered to a child's posture by love.
