  • śaṅkha — conchshell
Viṣṇu's pāñcajanya. The conch's sound is itself a form of nāma. Gauḍīyas read its appearance in any Vaiṣṇava-context as the Lord announcing His own presence through air.
  • sūta-māgadhāḥ — sūta and māgadha bards
Two professional reciter-classes. Gauḍīyas note that the recital culture preserved hari-kathā long before written-down texts; the sūta-māgadhas of this verse are the same class as Sūta Gosvāmī of Naimiṣāraṇya.
  • gandharvyaḥ — female Gandharvas
Celestial singers. Their participation marks the yajña as cosmically attended. Gauḍīyas note that Vaiṣṇava worship draws attendants from every loka — when Bhagavān is the object, the audience is universal.
Mṛdaṅgas, paṭahas, conchshells, bherīs, ānakas and other instruments resounded, male and female dancers danced, and sūtas and māgadhas recited glorifications. Sweet-voiced Gandharvīs sang, accompanied by their husbands.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya

Jiva

The yajña-pavilion sounds like the streets of Vraja during a festival — mṛdaṅgas, paṭahas, conchshells, voices of sūtas and māgadhas, sweet-voiced Gandharvīs singing with their husbands. Vasudeva's sacrifice is staged as a saṅkīrtana before the word existed: the air itself becomes part of the offering.

Caitanya's saṅkīrtana procession

In Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Mahāprabhu's processions through Navadvīpa and Jagannātha Purī mobilized the same instruments — mṛdaṅga and karatāla in the foreground, conches and drums in the back.

Gauḍīyas read this verse's audio landscape as the seed of yuga-dharma harināma-saṅkīrtana: the same instruments, eventually re-tuned to the holy name.
