Important Words
-
acyutaḥ
—
the infallible Lord
Nominative of acyuta — the one who never falls. The name is placed deliberately right after the rajaka has fallen. Bhagavān is acyuta; everything that opposes Him is cyuta. The verb-pair of the chapter.
-
kośān
—
bundles
Accusative plural of kośa — bundle, treasure. The same word used for cosmic kośas (annamaya, prāṇamaya, etc.). The rajaka's literal kośas are abandoned in fear; the Bhāgavatam's eye plays on the resonance.
-
dadruvuḥ
—
they fled
Perfect 3rd plural of √dru — to run. The assistants run because they have seen what proximity to Kaṁsa-tattva produces. The Bhāgavatam preserves their flight without judgment — they are spared because they ran.
-
jagṛhe
—
took
Perfect 3rd singular of √grah — to take. The same verb-field as Kṛṣṇa taking Akrūra's hand in verse 9. Bhagavān 'takes' — sometimes a hand in friendship, sometimes cloth in līlā-conquest. The verb is the constant; the mode varies.
The washerman’s assistants all dropped their bundles of clothes and fled down the road, scattering in all directions. Lord Kṛṣṇa then took the clothes.

Translation
The washerman's assistants all dropped their bundles of clothes and fled down the road, scattering in all directions. Lord Kṛṣṇa then took the clothes.
Commentary
The followers of the washerman dropped the baskets of clothing (vasah kosan) and fled.

Commentary
Vai means certainly. Another version has ca, indicating they left clothing and other items. The men and donkeys fled here and there (sarvataḥ) on the road. Or they fled in all directions on the road. Or they fled everywhere, not on the road (amārgam). They did not use the road and fled to other places (not the city). Kṛṣṇa remained on the spot (acyutaḥ).

Analogy
The assistants drop the bundles and scatter — the cloth they had hoarded for the king becomes ownerless in one moment. Property changes hands not by contract but by darśana: what the rajaka guarded, Kṛṣṇa simply takes.
