  • sañcintayan — thinking deeply
From sam (fully) + √cint — to consider thoroughly. The participle that names the inner state of vv.3-23: continuous, absorbed meditation on Kṛṣṇa. Gauḍīyas read this as the operational form of smaraṇam — one of the nine limbs of bhakti — sustained over hours.
  • kṛṣṇam — about Lord Kṛṣṇa
Accusative of Kṛṣṇa. After twenty verses of epithets — Keśava, Mukunda, Hari, Viṣṇu, Uttamaśloka — Śuka closes the meditation with the proper name. Gauḍīyas treasure this convergence: the names disperse, the Name returns.
  • śvaphalka - tanayaḥ — Akrūra, the son of Śvaphalka
Compound: Śvaphalka (his father) + tanaya (son). Bhāgavata identifies Akrūra by patronym at the moment he arrives — registering him in the Yadu lineage that connects him to Kṛṣṇa. Gauḍīyas note this genealogical care: bhakti is also family.
  • gokulam — the village of Gokula
Compound: go (cow) + kula (community, family). The cowherd village. Gauḍīyas hold Gokula as a specific tier of the eternal dhāma — distinct from Goloka above and yet identical with it. Akrūra crosses into the dhāma at sunset.
  • asta - girim — the mountain behind which the sun sets
Compound: asta (setting) + giri (mountain). The mythic western mountain. Gauḍīyas notice the poetic timing: just as the outer sun sets, the inner sun (Kṛṣṇa, the friend of the lotus) is about to rise into view. The verse is doing aupamya.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: My dear King, while the son of Śvaphalka, traveling on the road, thus meditated deeply on Śrī Kṛṣṇa, he reached Gokula as the sun was beginning to set.

Śrīla Śrīdhara Svāmī comments that although Akrūra did not even notice the road, being deeply absorbed in meditation on Lord Kṛṣṇa, he still reached Gokula on his chariot.

Translation
Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: My dear King, while the son of Śvaphalka, traveling on the road, thus meditated deeply on Śrī Kṛṣṇa, he reached Gokula as the sun was beginning to set.
Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Though Gokula was not far, Akrūra was delayed on the way. Riding on the chariot he arrived near the Lord when the sun was setting. There is a suggestion that the glory of Gokula, just like the sun, was covered by Sunset Mountain

Śrīdhara Svāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Since Akrūra was the son of a sage (śvaphalka tanayaḥ), it was suitable that he thought in this way. Or his name is not mentioned because he was doing this job of taking Kṛṣṇa away. He rode in the chariot, or he went with the chariot, which was for Kṛṣṇa to ride. It would not be proper from him to enter Vraja riding the chariot. The sun was setting. Athāstaṁ gacchati tadā manda-raśmau divākare: the sun was setting and had gentle rays. Hari-vaṁśa Kiṁcit sūrye vijājati: the sun was slightly shining. Viṣṇu Purāṇa Though going from Mathurā to the northwest for thirteen krośas one comes to the edge of Vraja, to Nanda’s house and Nandīśvara by noon, he arrived in the evening since that was auspicious. Or he went slowly because he was absorbed in thinking, and did not hurry the horses. O king! Śukadeva comforts the lamenting king. Or he himself exclaims in sorrow.

A traveler so absorbed in his destination scarcely notices the road passing under him — and yet his body has been moving correctly the whole while. Akrūra's chariot reaches Gokula at sunset because absorption itself drives the journey forward; bhakti's vehicle does not lose its way even when its driver has gone inward.
