  • rambhamāṇaḥ — bellowing
Present participle of √rambh — to roar, low. The same throat that should chew cud and call calves becomes a weapon. Demonic action in Vraja is almost always the corruption of a pastoral sound.
  • khara - taram — most harshly
Khara (rough, harsh) + comparative -taram. Vraja's auditory signature is Kṛṣṇa's flute and the cows' soft lowing; the demon's voice is named explicitly as their opposite.
  • vaprāṇi — the embankments
The raised borders that hold pasture-water and mark grazing fields. Ariṣṭa attacks the infrastructure of cow-care itself — exactly what a vṛṣabha-rūpa demon should fail at.
  • stabdha — fixed, staring
From √stambh — to make rigid. The demon's frozen glare contrasts with the moving, dancing eyes of the gopīs and the soft glance (kaṭākṣa) of Kṛṣṇa. Bhāva-śāstra reads such fixedness as a mark of tamas.
Ariṣṭāsura bellowed very harshly and pawed the ground. With his tail raised and his eyes glaring, he began to tear up the embankments with the tips of his horns, every now and then passing a little stool and urine.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Ariṣṭāsura bellowed very harshly and pawed the ground. With his tail raised and his eyes glaring, he began to tear up the embankments with the tips of his horns, every now and then passing a little stool and urine.
Commentary

Roaring very loudly and roughly, he clawed the earth with his hooves. He dug out the bank with his horns and passed stool.

Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

He made furrows in the earth with his hooves as he tore up the soil because of his crazed condition and desire to fight.

A bellowing animal that fouls the ground it stands on is the picture of unchecked rajas-tamas: noise, agitation, refuse — and no fruit. Kṛṣṇa permits Ariṣṭa this whole display so the pasture can see by contrast what a real lord of cows looks like.
