Durvāsā Muni, the greatly powerful mystic, was indeed satisfied when freed from the fire of the Sudarśana cakra. Thus he praised the qualities of Mahārāja Ambarīṣa and offered him the highest benedictions.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Durvāsā, freed from the fire of the Sudarśana cakra, became joyful, offered Ambarīṣa the highest blessings, and praised the King.
Once relieved, Durvāsā does not sulk — he openly praises the very person whose devotee status he had questioned. Honest praise after a humbling is a great spiritual achievement in itself.
Reflection Questions
  • After being corrected or humbled, do I praise the person who proved more advanced — or quietly resent them?
  • Where in my life is a public acknowledgment of someone's greater devotion still owed?
