Translation
From the womb of Dhṛtadevā, sister of Devakī, Vasudeva begot a son named Vipṛṣṭha. The sons of Śāntidevā, another wife of Vasudeva, were Praśama, Prasita and others.
Dhṛtadevā bears Vipṛṣṭha; Śāntidevā bears Praśama, Prasita and others. Yadu's leadership has more shoulders than we typically remember; we should not collapse a whole class into a few celebrated names.
Reflection Questions
  • Whose 'Praśama' or 'Prasita' in my world have I lumped into background?
  • What would deliberate naming and noticing do for my devotional community?
