not kṣatriyas, but the most abominable sons of kṣatriyas..
With pitiable prayers, Reṇukā, the mother of Paraśurāma and wife of Jamadagni, begged for the life of her husband. But the sons of Kārtavīryārjuna, being devoid of the qualities of kṣatriyas, were so cruel that despite her prayers they forcibly cut off his head and took it away.

Translation
In misery, Reṇukā begged for the life of her husband, but the sons of Kārtavīryārjuna, being devoid of the qualities of kṣatriyas, forcibly cut off his head and took it away.
She prayed for the life of her husband.
Personal Guidance
Reṇukā's pleading does not move the cruel sons. Some hearts have so devolved from kṣatriya into vengeful instrument that no maternal voice can reach them.
Reflection Questions
- Where am I so set on retribution that the pleading of the innocent no longer registers?
- Whose voice am I currently tuning out that might be the last chance for me to stop?
