After spreading kuśa with its tips pointing east, the saintly King, himself facing the northeast, sat down on the grass and began to meditate upon the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Viṣṇu, who had assumed the form of a fish.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
After spreading kuśa with its tips pointing east, the saintly King, facing the northeast, sat down on the grass and began to meditate upon the Lord in the form of a fish. He faced in the north-eastern direction.
Satyavrata spread kuśa with tips east, faced northeast, sat down, and meditated on Viṣṇu-as-fish. The waiting is structured: specific grass, specific direction, specific image. Method makes meditation possible.
Reflection Questions
  • Where do I attempt meditation without the structural details that scripture provides?
  • What single structural detail would deepen my regular practice?
