Translation
The brāhmaṇa descendants of Bhṛgu were very pleased with Bali Mahārāja, who desired to conquer the kingdom of Indra. Therefore, after purifying him and properly bathing him according to regulative principles, they engaged him in performing the Viśvajit sacrifice.
Viśvajitā means “by the Viśvajit sacrifice.”

Personal Guidance
Bhṛgu's brāhmaṇa descendants, pleased by Bali's desire to conquer Indra, purified him and engaged him in Viśvajit yajña. Even questionable ambitions can be channeled through proper ritual. The wise direct strong desire into sacred form.
Reflection Questions
- What ambition of mine could be channeled through a sacred form rather than pursued raw?
- Where do I either suppress or follow desire when the wise option is to ritualize it?
