When ghee [clarified butter] was offered in the fire of sacrifice, there appeared from the fire a celestial chariot covered with gold and silk. There also appeared yellow horses like those of Indra, and a flag marked with a lion.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
From the fire worshipped with oblations, there arose a chariot covered with gold and silk. There also appeared yellow horses like those of Indra and a flag marked with a lion. Horses yellow in color like those of Indra appeared.
When ghee was offered in the fire, a gold-and-silk chariot, Indra-like horses, and a lion-marked flag appeared. Properly performed sacrifice produces real equipment. Yajña is not symbolic; it is generative.
Reflection Questions
  • Where do I treat ritual as merely symbolic when it might actually produce what I need?
  • What 'ghee' am I withholding from the fire that would unlock provision?
