Important Words
-
brahma - kṣatra - sabhā
—
the assembly of brāhmaṇas and kṣatriyas
Compound: brahma (brāhmaṇa) + kṣatra (kṣatriya) + sabhā (assembly). The two upper varṇas seated together. Gauḍīyas: the verse pictures the kingdom's full upper structure ratifying Yudhiṣṭhira — and through him, Kṛṣṇa's agra-pūjā.
-
śuśubhe
—
he appeared brilliant
Perfect of √śubh (to shine, to be auspicious). Cognate of śubha. The same root that names auspiciousness names his post-yajña glow.
-
sura - rāṭ iva
—
like the King of the demigods
Compound + particle: sura + rāj (Indra) + iva (as). Yudhiṣṭhira's earthly status now mirrors Indra's heavenly one. The Bhāgavatam allows the comparison briefly — but only because the Pāṇḍava's first-honor went to a Lord above Indra.
-
avabhṛthyena snātaḥ
—
bathed by the avabhṛtha
Instrumental + participle: avabhṛthya (the avabhṛtha ritual) + snāta (bathed). The bath that completes a great Vedic sacrifice. Gauḍīyas: snāna in the Bhāgavata is always two-layered — the outer water and the inner bhāva.
Purified in the final, avabhṛthya ritual, which marked the successful completion of the Rājasūya sacrifice, King Yudhiṣṭhira shone among the assembled brāhmaṇas and kṣatriyas like the King of the demigods himself.

Translation

Commentary
Out of enthusiasm the bath is again praised. One should see the Mahābhārata for details of the bathing and hair dressing of Yudhiṣṭhira and Draupadī performed by the Lord.

Personal Guidance
Purified by the final avabhṛthya ritual, Yudhiṣṭhira shone like the King of the demigods. The completion of right action leaves visible glow; integrity is read on the face.
Reflection Questions
- What in my current life is shining because of recent right action?
- Where could I rest in that quietly rather than self-deprecate it?
Analogy
After every great work, the worker bathes — and the bath becomes the worker's coronation. Yudhiṣṭhira, fresh from avabhṛtha, sits among brāhmaṇas and kṣatriyas like Indra among the devas. The Rājasūya's interior has rearranged him.
