  • ṛṣīṇām — for the sages
Genitive plural. The Rājasūya satisfies the ṛṣis through Vedic recitation and dakṣiṇā — the sacrifice nourishes the very order that transmits dharma.
  • pitṛ-devānām — of the forefathers and demigods
Compound. The sacrifice repays the two ancestral debts (pitṛ-ṛṇa, deva-ṛṇa) that bind every embodied being. A king who performs Rājasūya frees his entire lineage.
  • suhṛdām — for the well-wishers
Kṛṣṇa includes Himself in 'our friends' — suhṛdām naḥ. Bhagavān as suhṛt-sarva-bhūtānām (Gītā 5.29) is named here in passing, as if it were the most ordinary thing.
  • kratu-rāṭ — king of sacrifices
Compound. Rājasūya is itself a king — the Rājan among yajñas. The mood: only the king-of-yajñas befits the King-of-kings being worshipped through it.
Indeed, My lord, for the great sages, the forefathers and the demigods, for Our well-wishing friends and, indeed, for all living beings, the performance of this king of Vedic sacrifices is desirable.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Indeed, My lord, for the great sages, the forefathers and the demigods, for Our well-wishing friends and, indeed, for all living beings, the performance of this king of Vedic sacrifices is desirable.
Commentary

After collecting the items perform (aharasva) the sacrifice.

Commentary

Not only by gaining fame do you make everyone happy but by you everyone will become happy. For Pitṛs, devatās, and us, your friends, this sacrifice will increase our appreciation of the Lord and thus increase our affection for him. Or this sacrifice is desire by all because of your humble nature. You are capable (prabho)!

Sages, forefathers, demigods, friends, and all living beings benefit from a great sacrifice. Genuine acts of worship ripple outward, helping beings we will never meet.
Reflection Questions
  • Whose unseen benefit is part of my sādhana?
  • How does seeing the wider effect of worship shape my motivation?

A village well during a drought is not chosen for the comfort of one family — it serves sages, ancestors, deities, friends, and animals alike. Kṛṣṇa frames the Rājasūya as exactly that well: a sacrifice whose water reaches every order of being.
