Translation
The great sage Viśvāmitra, seeing the fortitude and essence of truth in Mahārāja Hariścandra and his wife, gave them imperishable knowledge.
Gatim means knowledge.
Personal Guidance
Viśvāmitra sees Hariścandra and his wife as truthful, tolerant, and essence-seeking, and entrusts them with imperishable knowledge. The qualifications for receiving real knowledge are not cleverness but honesty, patience, and longing for what is real.
Reflection Questions
- How am I cultivating truthfulness, tolerance, and essence-seeking in my daily life?
- What knowledge am I asking for that my present character is not yet fit to receive?
