Alas! While practicing austerity, even within the depths of the water, and while observing all the rules and regulations practiced by saintly persons, I lost the results of my long austerities simply by association with the sexual affairs of fish. Everyone should observe this falldown and learn from it.

Translation
Alas! While practicing austerity, even within the depths of the water, and while observing all the rules practiced by saintly persons, I lost the results of my long austerities simply by association with the sexual affairs of fish. Everyone should observe this destruction.
Brahma means austerity.

Personal Guidance
Long austerities, deep in the water, observing every rule — all lost from a single careless contact. Saubhari makes himself a public lesson so that others might be saved from the same trajectory.
Reflection Questions
- Whose cautionary story have I refused to take seriously because it 'won't happen to me'?
- Where could I be a useful cautionary voice for younger devotees in my circle?
