Śaryāti had a beautiful lotus-eyed daughter named Sukanyā, with whom he went to the forest to see the āśrama of Cyavana Muni.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Śaryāti had a beautiful lotus-eyed daughter named Sukanyā, with whom he went to the forest to see the hermitage of the sage Cyavana.
Śaryāti brings his daughter to a sage's āśrama — a king teaches his child by exposure, not lecture. Holy places and holy company shape children more than instruction.
Reflection Questions
  • Which holy place have I not taken my children, friends, or self to recently?
  • What gets transmitted by mere proximity that words could never convey?
