Translation
The son of Romapāda was Babhru, from whom there came a son named Kṛti. The son of Kṛti was Uśika, and the son of Uśika was Cedi. From Cedi was born the king known as Caidya and others. Caidyādyaḥ means Damaghosa (father of Śiśupāla) and others.
Through Babhru, Kṛti, Uśika, Cedi — Cedi gives his name to the state and to Caidya (Śiśupāla). Names become regions, regions become identities, identities collide with the Lord centuries later.
Reflection Questions
  • What chain of small naming decisions in my line might still be playing out?
  • Where could I be deliberate about the names I give to things that may outlast me?
