Translation
Of the one thousand sons of Kārtavīryārjuna, only five remained alive after the fight with Paraśurāma. Their names were Jayadhvaja, Śūrasena, Vṛṣabha, Madhu and Ūrjita. Mṛdhe means “in the fight with Paraśurāma.”
Of his thousand sons, only five remained after Paraśurāma — Jayadhvaja, Śūrasena, Vṛṣabha, Madhu, Ūrjita. A single confrontation with the Lord's representative can erase nearly the entire offspring of a line.
Reflection Questions
  • What in my line is dangerously dependent on no representative of the Lord ever taking issue with it?
  • Where could course-correction now save what would otherwise be lost?
