Translation
From King Hastī came three sons, named Ajamīḍha, Dvimīḍha and Purumīḍha. The descendants of Ajamīḍha, headed by Priyamedha, all achieved the position of brāhmaṇas. From Ajamīḍha came a son named Bṛhadiṣu, from Bṛhadiṣu came a son named Bṛhaddhanu, from Bṛhaddhanu a son named Bṛhatkāya, and from Bṛhatkāya a son named Jayadratha.
Bṛhadiṣu, Bṛhaddhanu, Bṛhatkāya, Jayadratha — names with 'great-arrow,' 'great-bow,' 'great-body.' Lineages of warriors carry weapon-meanings forward generation after generation.
Reflection Questions
  • What 'weapon' has my lineage carried, and have I taken up my share of it?
  • Where could a name-meaning practice — invoking the qualities — wake up dormant strength?
