O Mahārāja Parīkṣit, descendant of Pāṇḍu, Saṅkṛti had two sons, named Guru and Rantideva. Rantideva is famous in both this world and the next, for he is glorified not only in human society but also in the society of the demigods.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
O Mahārāja Parīkṣit, descendant of Pāṇḍu! Saṅkṛti had two sons, named Guru and Rantideva. Rantideva is glorified not only in human society but also in the society of the devatās.
Rantideva is famous in human and divine society alike. Some lives, lived with sufficient devotional intensity, end up being remembered in multiple worlds at once.
Reflection Questions
  • If demigods could comment on my life, would they recognize it as devotional?
  • Where am I content with human notice when divine notice is also at stake?
