Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
In the morning, when Pṛṣadhra, who was quite able to subdue his enemy, saw that he had killed the cow although at night he thought he had killed the tiger, he was very unhappy. Vyuṣṭāyām means “when night passed.”
At dawn, Pṛṣadhra sees clearly what his sword did at night, and his heart breaks. Honest morning review of yesterday's actions is essential — even capable warriors must let the light expose their misses.
Reflection Questions
  • Do I conduct an honest review of yesterday before launching into today?
  • What recent action would not survive the light of careful examination?
