Satyavatī later became the sacred river Kauśikī to purify the entire world, and her son, Jamadagni, married Reṇukā, the daughter of Reṇu. By the semen of Jamadagni, many sons, headed by Vasumān, were born from the womb of Reṇukā. The youngest of them was named Rāma, or Paraśurāma.

Translation
Satyavatī later became the sacred river Kauśikī to purify the entire world, and her son, Jamadagni, married Reṇukā, the daughter of Reṇu. By the semen of Jamadagni, many sons, headed by Vasumān, were born from the womb of Reṇukā. The youngest of them was Paraśurāma. Satyavatī became the Kauśikī River.
Satyavatī becomes the river Kauśikī; her son Jamadagni marries Reṇukā, and from them comes Paraśurāma. Mothers do not merely birth children — they sometimes become whole sacred rivers, purifying the world.
Reflection Questions
  • Whose 'river' am I drinking from that was once a woman of devotion?
  • What part of my own life could become a current that carries on after me?
