Translation
Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: O King! From the womb of Urvaśī, six sons were generated by Purūravā. Their names were Āyu, Śrutāyu, Satyāyu, Raya, Vijaya and Jaya. The Fifteenth Chapter describes how Paraśurāma, [Note: Paraśurāma appeared in the seventeenth or twenty-second cycle of yugas in Vaivasvata Manvantara according to Labhu-bhāgavatāmṛta.] descending in Pururavā’s line from the son of the daughter of Gādhi killed mighty Kārtavīryārjuna, who stole the kāma-dhenu.
Six sons are born to Purūravā and Urvaśī — Āyu, Śrutāyu, Satyāyu, Raya, Vijaya, Jaya. Even from a fraught union, life proceeds and lineages continue; the Lord does not waste even compromised beginnings.
Reflection Questions
  • What good has the Lord brought out of a beginning of mine that I once judged compromised?
  • Where am I writing off a present situation as too damaged to bear fruit?
