Translation
The most powerful great-grandfather Vasiṣṭha, after hearing these words of Manu and understanding the discrepancy on the part of the hotā, spoke as follows to the son of the sun-god, Manu. Prapitāmahaḥ means Vasiṣṭha.
Vasiṣṭha listens before responding and identifies the priest's lapse. A guru first diagnoses the cause before prescribing the remedy — devotees should bring problems honestly.
Reflection Questions
  • When something goes wrong spiritually, do I take it to a senior or quietly explain it away?
  • Am I willing to hear an accurate diagnosis even when it implicates my own request?
