Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
O queens of Suyajña! The female was caught in the ropes of the net. The male kuliṅga bird, seeing his wife captured, became very unhappy. Because of affection, the poor bird, being unable to release her, began to lament for his wife. Sicas tantryām means the ropes of the net. Mahiṣyaḥ means “O queens!”
The male kuliṅga, unable to free his mate, laments in helpless affection. Love that cannot save still pours out, because that is love's nature. But helpless grief alone changes nothing; only awakening to the Lord's larger plan does.
Reflection Questions
  • Whom do you love whose suffering you cannot fix — and what is your grief doing for them?
  • How might your love be transformed by trusting the Lord's plan even while you still feel?
