O King, I shall now describe the qualifications for a vānaprastha, one who has retired from family life. By rigidly following the rules and regulations for the vānaprastha, one can easily be elevated to the upper planetary system known as Maharloka.

Personal Guidance
Now the qualifications of a vānaprastha. By rigid observance, one can be elevated to Maharloka. The retired-from-family stage has its own discipline and its own reward. Retirement is not coasting; it is intensification.
Reflection Questions
- Where are you treating a 'later stage' of life as a coast rather than an intensification?
- What discipline now would prepare you for a genuine vānaprastha later?
