Then Lord Brahmā became a calf and Lord Viṣṇu a cow, and at noon they entered the residences and drank all the nectar in the well.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Lord Brahmā became a calf and Lord Viṣṇu became a cow. At noon they entered the residences and drank all the nectar in the well. Kale means “at noon.”
Brahmā becomes a calf and Viṣṇu a cow; together at noon they drink all the nectar from the well. Even the highest powers stoop to disguise as cow and calf to disable the demonic source. Humility is sometimes the most powerful weapon.
Reflection Questions
  • Where might humility in disguise be the move to disable a stubborn problem?
  • What 'cow and calf' approach would solve more than direct confrontation?
