After the relatives had discharged their duties by performing the proper funeral ceremonies and burning the dead child’s body, they gave up the affection that leads to illusion, lamentation, fear and pain. Such affection is undoubtedly difficult to give up, but they gave it up very easily.

Translation
After the relatives had removed the body of the son and performed a proper funeral ceremony, they gave up the affection that leads to illusion, lamentation, fear and pain, which is difficult to give up.
Personal Guidance
After funeral rites and cremation, they gave up affection that produces illusion, lamentation, fear and pain — affection difficult to abandon. Ritual closure helps the inner detachment.
Reflection Questions
- What ritual closure could help me with an attachment I haven't released?
- Where am I trying inner work that needs an outer ceremony?
