Kailāsa Hill is also decorated with such trees as kata, jackfruit, julara, banyan trees, plakṣas, nyagrodhas and trees producing asafetida. Also there are trees of betel nuts and bhūrja-patra, as well as rājapūga, blackberries and similar other trees.

Translation
Kailāsa Hill is also decorated with such trees as jackfruit, pippala, banyan trees, plakṣas, asafetida, various herbs, betel nut trees, birch, raja-pūga and jambu trees.
Banyans, jackfruit, asafetida — even pungent and ordinary trees decorate Kailāsa. Holiness doesn't reject the unglamorous; it integrates the practical right alongside the beautiful.
Reflection Questions
  • Which 'ordinary' element of my life have I dismissed as unspiritual that actually belongs in the garden?
  • Where am I editing out the practical in pursuit of an aesthetic of holiness?
