My dear Lord, You are always unborn. Once, in the form of the original boar, You rescued me from the waters in the bottom of the universe. Through Your own energy You created all the physical elements, the senses and the heart, for the maintenance of the world.

This refers to the time when Lord Kṛṣṇa appeared as the supreme boar, Varāha, and rescued the earth, which had been merged in water. The asura Hiraṇyākṣa had dislocated the earth from its orbit and thrown it beneath the waters of the Garbhodaka Ocean. Then the Lord, in the shape of the original boar, rescued the earth.

Translation
O Lord! You, in the form of a boar, lifted from the water below Rasātala this universe, which is me, consisting of elements, senses and mind, and which was created by you. She invokes his mercy upon herself by letting the Lord remember his previous actions in two verses.
As the original boar You once rescued me from cosmic waters; You created elements, senses and heart for the world's maintenance. The Lord who threatens me is the same Lord who once saved me; the dual memory is the way to navigate this moment.
Reflection Questions
  • Which person whose anger I now face is also the one who once rescued me?
  • Where could remembering past rescue change how I receive current threat?
