Thereafter the extremely powerful air, interacting with the sky, generated the form of sense perception, and the perception of form transformed into electricity, the light to see the world.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Air, getting great strength from ether, transformed itself and became the tan-mātra of form. From form arose light, which illuminates the eyes of people. Air, getting great strength with ether, became form. From form light arose, which reveals the eyes of people.
The cosmic elements unfold sequentially — sky generates air, and air interacting with sky produces the form-perception we call light. Behind every layer of perception lies the Lord's arrangement, not random chance. Sight itself is a gift made possible by transformations of the same source energy.
Reflection Questions
  • When I look at the world, do I see only objects, or do I sense the layered arrangement that makes seeing possible?
  • How might gratitude for the simple capacity to perceive light reshape my day?
