Brahmā also entered His heart with intelligence, but even then the Cosmic Being could not be prevailed upon to get up. Lord Rudra also entered His heart with the ego, but even then the Cosmic Being did not stir.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Brahmā along with intelligence entered the heart, but the form did not arise. Rudra along with ego entered the heart, but the form did not arise.
Brahmā enters with intelligence, Rudra enters with ego — and even these fail to rouse the Cosmic Being. Intellect and ego, though high faculties, do not by themselves awaken consciousness. There is something deeper that must enter.
Reflection Questions
  • Have I treated intelligence or ego-strength as the goal of spiritual life?
  • What dimension beyond intellect am I overlooking?
