Brahmā told Rudra: O best among the demigods, there is no need for you to generate living entities of this nature. They have begun to devastate everything on all sides with the fiery flames from their eyes, and they have even attacked me.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
O best of the devatās! It is not necessary to create such progeny who burn up the directions along with me by their fiery glance.
Brahmā has to ask Rudra to stop generating beings whose flames attack even the creator. Even good intentions can produce harmful offspring; sometimes the loving directive is 'stop creating.' Restraint is itself a creative act.
Reflection Questions
  • What am I currently 'generating' that is harming even those who guided me?
  • Where is the right next move actually to stop, not to make more?
