O powerful Śaunaka.
O most powerful Śaunaka, they went to Mārkaṇḍeya’s hermitage, on the northern side of the Himālaya Mountains where the Puṣpabhadrā River passes by the famous peak Citrā.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
O most powerful Śaunaka! They went to Mārkaṇḍeya's hermitage, on the northern side of the Himālaya Mountains near the Puṣpabhadrā River and Mount Citrā.
The party of distraction arrives at Markandeya's asrama on the northern bank of the Pushpabhadra, by the Himalayas. Even the holiest setting is not exempt from incursion. Sacred space helps, but does not by itself protect.
Reflection Questions
  • Where do I overestimate the protective power of setting alone?
  • What inner work is still required even in the right place?
