My dear brāhmaṇa Śaunaka, Yājñavalkya then desired to find out new yajur-mantras unknown to even his spiritual master. With this in mind he offered attentive worship to the powerful lord of the sun.

Translation
My dear brāhmaṇa Śaunaka! Yājñavalkya, seeking mantras unknown to even his guru, began worshipping the powerful sun-god.
Adhigaveṣayan means seeking. He sought mantras which his guru Vaiśampāyana had not studied.
Personal Guidance
Yajnavalkya now desires new yajur-mantras unknown even to his guru, and offers worship to the sun-god. Falling, he humbly seeks a higher source. Mistakes, repented, can become the doorway to fresh revelation.
Reflection Questions
- Has a recent mistake of mine opened me to a higher source than before?
- Where am I refusing that doorway because I am still ashamed?
