I do not consider it at all amazing that great souls such as yourself, whose minds are always absorbed in the infallible Personality of Godhead, show mercy to the foolish conditioned souls, tormented as we are by the problems of material life.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
I do not find it amazing that great souls such as you, whose minds are always absorbed in the Lord, show mercy to the foolish conditioned souls suffering in this world. Acyutātmanām means “whose minds are absorbed in Acyuta.”
Pariksit says he is not amazed that great souls absorbed in the Lord still show mercy to the fallen — that is simply their nature. Saints reach down because they are full, not because they need anything. We can become small currents of that same mercy.
Reflection Questions
  • When I help others, am I drawing from fullness or from need?
  • Whose small kindness has flowed to me from such fullness, and can I pass it on today?
