My dear King, by constantly meditating upon the Supreme Lord, Vāsudeva, and by applying clear and logical intelligence, you should carefully consider your true self and how it is situated within the material body.

Translation
O King! By constantly meditating upon Vāsudeva and by using the mind and intelligence for inferring the soul’s existence, you should carefully consider your true self situated within the material coverings.
Carefully consider by the mind (ātmanā) the soul situated in the upādhis such as the body, using inferences for the ātmā’s existence through intelligence, as well as meditation on Vāsudeva.
Personal Guidance
Sukadeva tells Pariksit to consider his true self by combining clear reasoning with constant meditation on Vasudeva. Reason alone produces dry analysis; devotion alone without clarity drifts. The two together open the heart safely.
Reflection Questions
- Am I leaning too heavily on intellect or on sentiment in my practice?
- What would it look like to bring both into a single act of remembrance today?
