Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Mārkaṇḍeya said: O mighty lord, what can I possibly do for you, who are fully satisfied by your own ecstasy and by whose influence this entire world becomes joyful.
Markandeya asks Siva, 'What can I do for you, who are fully satisfied by your own ecstasy?' Real worship asks how to serve rather than what to receive. The orientation of the question changes everything.
Reflection Questions
  • Do my prayers ask more often what to receive or how to serve?
  • What would shifting that balance change?
