Translation
Mārkaṇḍeya worshiped Śiva, along with Umā and Śiva's associates, by offering them words of welcome, sitting places, water for washing their feet, arghya, sandalwood pulp, flower garlands and lamps.
Markandeya worships Siva and Uma with welcome, sitting places, water for the feet. The visit of grace is met with formal hospitality. We should know how to receive grace properly — not flippantly, not anxiously.
Reflection Questions
  • How do I 'receive' grace when it arrives — flippantly, anxiously, or attentively?
  • What small ritual could improve my reception?
