Translation
Aśokavardhana will be followed by Suyaśā, whose son will be Saṅgata. His son will be Śāliśūka, Śāliśūka's son will be Somaśarmā, and Somaśarmā's son will be Śatadhanvā. His son will be known as Brhadratha.
Another quick succession of rulers — each name once meant power, now means nothing to most readers. The Bhāgavatam uses this anonymity to wake us from chasing recognition and turn us toward bhakti, where the smallest service is eternally remembered.
Reflection Questions
  • What recognition am I currently chasing that won't outlive a generation?
  • What small act of service today would be 'remembered' in the way bhakti measures?
