Lakṣmīdevī.
The Supreme Personality of Godhead is absolutely the most dear one for all living beings because He is everyone’s well-wisher and Lord. He is the Supreme Soul situated in everyone’s heart. Therefore I will now pay the price of complete surrender, and thus purchasing the Lord I will enjoy with Him just like Lakṣmīdevī.

The real friend of all conditioned souls is the Supreme Lord, and only He can award the highest perfection in life. By following the example of Lakṣmīdevī, who always remains at the lotus feet of the Lord, one will certainly obtain eternal happiness. One should make the best use of the material body, which is a bad bargain, and surrender one’s body, mind and words to the Lord. Paying such a price, one can purchase the Lord, who is everyone’s dearmost well-wisher. Thus one’s ancient propensity for sense gratification will automatically be controlled.

Translation
The Supreme Lord is the dearest for all living beings because he is everyone’s well-wisher and the soul situated in everyone’s heart. Therefore I will now pay the price of complete surrender, and, thus purchasing the Lord, I will enjoy with him just like Lakṣmī. “What then do you desire to do?” Purchasing him by giving my body to him, I will enjoy with him, having attained the Lord who is most dear.
Kṛṣṇa is the dearmost well-wisher seated in every heart; pay the price of full surrender and enjoy with Him as Lakṣmīdevī does.
Practical Applications
  • Begin the day by offering body, mind, and words to Kṛṣṇa as the conscious price of purchasing Him.
  • When tempted by sense gratification, name it as a bad bargain and redirect that energy into one act of service.
  • Speak to Kṛṣṇa in the heart as your truest friend and Lord before turning to any other counsel today.
Reflection Questions
  • Where am I still trying to keep parts of body, mind, or speech for myself instead of paying the full price of surrender?
  • If Kṛṣṇa is already seated in my heart as well-wisher, why do I keep treating others or my own plans as my real refuge?
For Each Age Group
youth
  • Before opening social media or chasing peer approval, offer the next hour's attention to Kṛṣṇa as a small installment on the price of surrender.
  • When a friendship or crush starts feeling like your true refuge, remember Kṛṣṇa as suhṛt in the heart and bring that relationship back into proper proportion.
  • Refuse the campus story that your body and image are assets to maximize; treat them as a bad bargain to be spent in service instead.
householder
  • In one family or money decision this week, consciously consult Kṛṣṇa as the Lord in the heart before consulting your own preferences.
  • Offer your working hours, your speech with spouse and children, and your bodily energy as the daily price by which you are purchasing the Lord.
  • When you catch yourself acting as proprietor of home, income, or children, rename yourself as Kṛṣṇa's servant whose household is His property.
senior
  • Use the loosening grip of the body as an invitation to finally pay in full — surrender body, mind, and words while you still have them to give.
  • Mentor a younger devotee or family member by pointing them past yourself to Kṛṣṇa as their real well-wisher and Lord within the heart.
  • Each evening, review what attachments you are still trying to carry forward and consciously hand them over at the lotus feet, in the mood of Lakṣmīdevī.
Common Pitfalls
  • Treating surrender as a feeling to wait for rather than a transaction enacted now with body, mind, and words.
  • Hearing about Lakṣmīdevī's enjoyment with the Lord and twisting it into a license for personal sense pleasure.
  • Reducing the Supreme Soul in the heart to an impersonal inner light, losing the personal Kṛṣṇa one is meant to purchase.
Discussion Prompts
  • Share one area of life where you still consider yourself the proprietor instead of having paid the price of surrender — and what stops you from paying it.
  • What does it concretely mean for you to "purchase" Kṛṣṇa with body, mind, and words this week, and where would the cost actually hurt?
  • Compare the friendship Kṛṣṇa offers as suhṛt with the friendships you currently lean on most — where are you under-investing in the real friend?
Role Play

Two students pair up: one plays a sincere seeker who says they already feel close to God internally and see no need for formal surrender; the other plays a Gauḍīya friend who, using only this verse, gently shows why feeling Kṛṣṇa as Supersoul is not the same as paying the price of complete surrender and living as Lakṣmīdevī does at His lotus feet.

Objections & Responses
  • Calling surrender a "purchase" sounds transactional and beneath real love — shouldn't devotion be spontaneous, not a price paid?
The verse's language of price is exactly what protects love from sentimentality: Kṛṣṇa is priceless, so only the full offering of body, mind, and words is honest currency. Lakṣmīdevī's eternal enjoyment with Him shows that this "transaction" is the doorway into the deepest spontaneous love, not its opposite.
  • If the Lord is already seated in every heart as Supersoul, why do I need to do anything — isn't He already mine?
He is present as well-wisher, but presence is not possession; the conditioned soul has spent lifetimes selling itself to sense gratification instead. This verse asks us to reverse that bargain — by surrendering completely we stop being owned by māyā and finally come to live, like Lakṣmīdevī, in conscious enjoyment with the Lord who was always near.
